This role plays a key role in developing, implementing, supporting and encouraging high standards of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance in all activities and ensure compliance with company and statutory requirements.
Focus on continuous improvement H&S practices and develop an ethos of proactiveness towards safety throughout the business.
Responsibilities
* To implement and coordinate processes and systems to continually achieve best in class performance in Health and Safety.
* To coordinate the compliance with and continuous improvement of the safety management systems aligned and compliant with ISO45001.
* To work with other teams to ensure Paragraf remains in compliance with all statutory codes, legislative requirements and best practises by overseeing compliance maintained in all technical areas of the business, from plant and equipment such as DSEAR, WSE, LEV etc through Electrical testing, and gas/chemical safety such as COSHH, REACH, WEE etc.
* To oversee all first aid and emergency response provision, taking responsibility for ensuring all departments and activities are risk assessed and emergency preparedness is in place.
* To lead and chair the Safety Committee, ensuring all accidents and incidents are properly dealt with.
* To implement and manage our Environmental Management System (EMS) to be aligned with ISO14001.
* To drive energy efficiency and work with the facilities team to deliver projects to reduce our waste streams, carbon footprint and general efficiencies.
* To develop a sustainability management programme which takes in all of Paragraf’s activities.
* To coordinate Occupational Health issues and processes with the HR Team.
* To oversee a disaster/emergency response plan, ensuring Paragraf remains prepared for both worst case scenarios as well as minor alerts and issues.
* Liaise with local authorities (HDC, CCC), legislative bodies (HSE, EA) and emergency services (Fire) and other relevant parties to ensure Paragraf is suitably supported.
* Support accident, incident, near miss and non-conformance management including investigation, identification of causation factors and remedial actions where required.
* Collate metrics and produce HSE performance reports and monitor progress, analyse trends, identify improvement areas as well as communicating performance.
* Drive proactive communication, knowledge, training and other HSE activities throughout the business to maintain a strong health and safety culture.
* Liaise with staff and contractors to ensure Health & Safety information, training and procedures are effectively communicated, maintained and implemented.
* Complete other duties commensurate with the role’s level as requested by your team leader or manager.
Education and Qualifications
* Educated to degree level ideally in an engineering discipline with CMIOSH (or CEng/CSci) desirable.
* A relevant professional certification such as NEBOSH.
Experience
* Significant experience of working in a technical/scientific environment and collaborating with colleagues at all levels as well as work autonomously to deliver results.
* Experience of Safety Management with understanding of risks within the semiconductor/electronics/chemical industries.
* Experience of delivering Health & Safety training within the workplace.
* Experience of multi-project coordination with a strong track record of achieving project delivery.
* Experience of working with external parties to ensure workplace and operational compliance.
Skills and Knowledge
* Strong HSE regulations and compliance knowledge.
* Proven ability to develop a strong working relationship with all levels of employees and promote a culture of engagement, understanding and compliance for all HSE policies and procedures.
Communication
* Excellent communication skills with the confidence to contribute and encourage ideas generation to senior management.
* Effectively communicate technical information, and report on status of work in a timely manner to senior management.
* Ability to present information clearly and appropriately for the audience.

* Responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy work environment by complying with company policies and processes and all relevant regulations including the use of PPE, as appropriate to the level and scope of the role. * Willing to travel both domestically and abroad.
