Job overview
The purpose of this post is primarily the management and leadership of the Application Development Team, designing and developing replacement processes to meet business requirements and become part of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR).
In a rapidly changing technology environment, the Trust needs to transform its processes and systems to meet developing business requirements. It must implement technology solutions which are aligned to the business focus.
The EPR is critical to the Trust being the primary system for patient administration and care, expanding through development to incorporate other systems, both paper and electronic, over the next few years is essential. The post-holder will be responsible for leading a team of development specialists who will work in conjunction with organisational teams such as the Digital Transformation Team in delivering this major change.
Additionally, the role covers the development and maintenance of other applications both clinical and administrative, such as Robotic Process Automation, web-based applications, Microsoft Power Apps, and InfoFlex.
Main duties of the job
* Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of the Trust’s business requirements and long-term business strategy, particularly in relation to EPR.
* Lead the team in ensuring that all elements of Application Development are designed and developed in line with the agreed Programme delivery.
* Day-to-day management of a team of 6 to 7 IT Development Specialists.
* Responsible for the overall delivery of a programme of EPR developments to budget, timescale and the appropriate levels of quality in accordance with STH’s delivery methodology.
* Be committed to continued personal development and maintain skill sets through ongoing training. Provide support and share knowledge with colleagues, as appropriate.
* Perform tasks in accordance with the ITIL Service Management framework and the Departmental Service Code of Practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Directorate is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining and supporting the full IT infrastructure (including Networks, Servers, Storage, PCs), Integration, In-house as well as managing key Systems such as ICE, EDMS and InfoFlex. It provides specialist advice not available elsewhere within the Trust on implementation and management of information technology resources and systems.

Education and Qualifications
* Degree-level or equivalent experience in application development or a related area
* Masters’ degree, or equivalent knowledge in application development or a related area
* Project Management - PRINCE 2 foundation or equivalent experience
* Project Management – Agile project management foundation or higher

* Extensive experience of the full Application Development Process covering: Requirements Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Service Transition, Maintenance and Support
* Extensive experience of Trust business and clinical processes
