Functional area: Legal / Compliance
We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and confident Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel (dependent on experience) to support RWE’s expanding international Offshore Wind business.
As part of the global Construction & Procurement Law team, you will collaborate with other legal team members and departments to provide comprehensive legal support for RWE’s offshore wind projects worldwide.
Responsibilities include:
* Providing legal support for procurement, construction, and operational activities of RWE’s offshore wind projects
* Drafting, negotiating, and advising on contracts throughout the project lifecycle, including turbine supply, foundation, EPC, purchase, service, and maritime logistics contracts
* Acting as the primary legal contact for projects, coordinating with procurement and external counsel as needed
* Monitoring legal matters related to your projects and advising management on risks, claims, and disputes
* Supporting dispute resolution efforts and liaising with external legal counsel
* Driving process improvements within the legal team
* Developing tailored legal solutions for complex project challenges
* Building effective cross-functional relationships within the company and internationally
Qualifications and Experience:
* Qualified solicitor in the UK
* Several years’ experience in private practice or in-house legal roles, preferably in energy or infrastructure projects
* Knowledge of international construction and procurement law standards (e.g., FIDIC, BIMCO)
* Experience in renewables and offshore wind is advantageous but not required; enthusiasm to develop expertise is essential
* Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively
* Understanding of large infrastructure projects from a legal perspective
* Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus
* Willingness to travel occasionally and work in an international environment
