An exciting opportunity has arisen within Ward 86 for a Band 6 Clinical Educator. Ward 86 is the regional Centre for treatment of children with life threatening malignancies and blood disorders. It is a dedicated 24 bedded facility caring for children and families undergoing complex treatment in the management of haematology and oncology conditions.
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Ward 86's Ward Manager and the senior nursing team to ensure all staff, particularly new starters are supported to learn and develop new specialist skills.
This is an exciting prospect for an organised knowledgeable nurse proficient in caring for children with Haematology/Oncology conditions and their families who wishes to gain further leadership and education/teaching experience.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work in collaboration with Ward 86's Ward Manager with particular focus on:
1. Bedside training and education, for staff, patients and carer's.
2. Supporting classroom teaching on Haematology/Oncology conditions and nursing care.
3. Working alongside the MFT's education team becoming involved in the teaching of AIMs and trust induction.
4. Working alongside staff to coordinate and teach complex discharge management and coordination.
5. Leadership and professional role modelling through ward round preparation and coordination, complex communication, challenging practice as required and celebrating achievement as it occurs.
6. Review of pathways to identify training needs of staff and ensure appropriate education.
7. Review of local guidelines and protocols to ensure up to date and accessible to staff.
8. To continue to review and update the ward education strategy to ensure appropriate knowledge and skills of ward staff.
9. To participate in teaching/training for the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital “New Staff Induction Programme.
10. Supporting the ward manager to ensure quality, safety and patient experience.

Person specification
Qualifications
* RN (Child) / RSCN
* Evidence of CPD in relevant speciality
* Evidence of level 3 studies
* Qualified to function as mentor for pre-registration students
* Appropriate management or leadership course
Experience
* Substantial post-registration experience with significant experience within relevant clinical setting
* Evidence of professional leadership, leading to innovation in practice
* Evidence of multidisciplinary / multiagency working.
* Experience of clinical audit
* Experience of clinical research activities
Knowledge
* Clinically competent in named clinical area
* Awareness of clinical governance process
Employer certification / accreditation badges
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
