Our Defence and Security provide design and engineering services for our nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. Our team is experiencing exciting growth and long-term prospects within our established practice, and we are looking for Electrical engineers with transferable skills who are passionate about developing themselves and in meeting new challenges. We offer hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office. Occasional site visits may be necessary. About the Opportunity: We are looking to recruit and develop career minded people to bolster our well-established and growing multi-discipline engineering delivery capability to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries. Our projects include developing solutions through all stages in highly regulated environments, in support of air, land and sea defence establishments, the UK nuclear submarine fleet, and both existing and new build nuclear bases. You will preferably have experience of working in the maritime, nuclear and/or defence industries, but also those with relevant industrial design experience looking to work in a technically challenging environment. Key Responsibilities include: - Performs the assessment and design of a project, including the coordination of the project with project delivery team. - Working with a team of EC&I engineers/designers in developing engineering deliverables throughout various stages of the project. - Preparing RAMS, carrying out visual and intrusive inspections analysing data and reporting. - Preparation of drawings, functional and technical specifications, and contract documents. - Performing calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial applications. - Interface and co-ordinate with Safety Case and System Engineering teams. - Participating in planning, cost development and scheduling for assigned projects. - Responsibility for authoring technical deliverables. We're happy to discuss hybrid, part-time and flexible working hours, patterns and locations to suit you and our business. - Possess in depth knowledge of the electrical engineering discipline. - LV distribution systems and associated control and protection systems, cable sizing and design and using cable sizing software (AMTECH). - Experience in electrical building services. - Experience in a contracting environment, relevant site experience and commercial awareness. - Possess suitable security clearance or capable of obtaining relevant NSV clearance. - Willing to travel if/when required. - Background in project design/engineering work in specialist area preferred (Nuclear and Defence Sector) but not necessary - Professionally qualified (e.g. Incorporated/Chartered) Engineer with a degree (preferred but not necessary) in the relevant discipline. - Experience of working on Nuclear Safety Implicated systems but not necessary. - Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit software. - Demonstrated record of maintaining own skills and knowledge at the forefront of the field.
