This is a fantastic opportunity to work at one of Manchester's most exclusive luxury venues. Vermilion is an iconic venue that includes an upscale restaurant, lounge bar, and three wedding and event spaces.
We are now looking for a talented and motivated Banqueting Chef at Vermilion to support the weddings and events team. A banquet chef is responsible for planning, organising, and directing the work of employees in the Banquet kitchen. They develop the banquet menu and then oversee the food preparation for all banquet and catering events, ensuring the food produced is of the highest quality.
The right candidate must have experience in organising banquets of Indian Cuisine. Other experiences such as European and Chinese will be beneficial.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring smooth kitchen operations during events, working collaboratively with chefs and kitchen staff.
2. Must be creative in food presentation and have an eye for detail.
3. Must be progressive in creating new menus.
4. Working effectively with the kitchen team to prepare and present high-quality dishes for large guest numbers.
5. Personally ensure all raw materials are of the highest quality.
6. Developing new exciting menus based on customer demand or the season. Must have Indian wedding banquet food experience.
7. Briefing banquet kitchen staff about the upcoming functions.
8. Establishing the priorities each day and assigning tasks to banquet kitchen staff.
9. Taking a physical inventory of specific food items for the daily inventory.
10. Ordering new supplies where necessary.
11. Motivating, coaching, and acting as a role model for junior team members.
12. Maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and food safety in the busy kitchen environment.
13. Supervising all junior kitchen staff.
14. Communicating with the Event Operations team to ensure food is well prepared, coordinated, and organised.
15. Report to the Head Chef.
What you'll need:
1. A minimum of 5 years experience working in a fast-paced banqueting or high-volume kitchen environment.
2. Experience in Indian Cuisine.
3. Excellent level of culinary skills with a strong foundation in various cooking techniques.
4. A passion for creating memorable dining experiences for guests.
5. The ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. To be able to motivate and guide any junior members of staff.
8. Problem-solving skills.
