Ricardo’s Performance Products division are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to support New Product Introduction projects across a wide range of niche products to many premium brand customers. The NPI team delivers niche production assembly-based industrialisation programmes for Ricardo Performance Products Limited and its customers in a dynamic mixed manufacturing & consultancy environment, delivering world class products globally across a range of technologies and market sectors including Automotive, Marine, Rail, Aerospace & Green Propulsion.
Responsibilities
* As a Senior Industrialisation Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting Processes and Procedures associated with assembly from concept to series production. Working as part of a team, alone on designated projects your key objectives will include:
* Design, development, and maintenance of manufacturing processes for current and future Programmes.
* Development, implementation, and operation of manufacturing process documentation (DFA, DFM, Build Process, Process Control plan, PFMEA’s, Risk Assessments/Safety Systems & Launch Readiness)
* Support specification and design of equipment layouts and material flows
* Requisitioning (including specification, procurement, commissioning, installation, and validation) of new and modified tooling and equipment required for assembly (DAT, FAT & SAT).
* Support the production team during Industrialisation phases to improve production quality and efficiency.
* Support of Prototype builds in line with project delivery requirements, including early validation of production processes and tooling.
* Development of assembly work standards to support both Prototype phase (build books) and the transfer to standard work instructions for Production.
* Continuous improvement of the manufacturing processes to deliver to cost, quality and delivery performance targets.
* To achieve quality standards in a series production environment.
Knowledge and Experience
* Automotive, Marine, Aerospace and Green technology environment background with experience of automotive technology and product development including Vehicle and Powertrain Systems (ICE and electrification).
* Hands-on experience of lean manufacturing.
* Preferably experience with various manufacturing processes and components deployed in Assembly & Quality Gates.
* Understanding of relevant manufacturing methods and detailed drawing dimensioning / GD&T
* Design & CAD experience for; tooling & fixtures, virtual builds, factory layouts (2d/3d) and assembly equipment.
* Demonstratable knowledge with various manufacturing processes and components deployed in assembly (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, Capability studies (gauge R&R), Work instructions and equipment handover) & quality gates (e.g. End of Line testing)
* Industrialisation and Launch Readiness experience.
* Aware of and committed to best practice manufacturing practice and processes.
* Excellent problem-solving skills (8D).
* Experience in MES and vision systems preferable.
Desirable
* Knowledge of cost estimating assembly equipment.
* Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
* Professional Institute membership read and understand / interpret technical drawings / CAD models.
