Residential Care Worker Childrens Home (Dromore) Location: Dromore, Northern Ireland Employer: Total Care Recruitment on behalf of our client, We are currently seeking dedicated Residential Care Workers for a children's home in Dromore. Our client provides individualised, therapeutic residential services for young people in care across Northern Ireland. Their mission is to employ experienced, passionate, and qualified staff to support young people who have experienced trauma, helping them transition into a less intense model of care. We are committed to providing a supportive, responsive, empowering, and safe environment that promotes consistency, personal growth, social development, and education. The young people, aged 12-18, may present challenging behaviours, and we are looking for compassionate staff who can provide structured, nurturing, and trauma-informed care. Job Purpose As a Residential Care Worker, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, creating a therapeutic and secure environment where young people feel supported and valued. You will build positive relationships, assess needs, and help young people overcome challenges using a person-centred, trauma-informed approach. Key Responsibilities ? Work with children and young people using person-centred and trauma-informed approaches to achieve positive outcomes. ? Collaborate with childrens services, health agencies, and community-based services. ? Manage complex cases within the service and apply safeguarding and child protection procedures. ? Work within a multi-disciplinary team to maintain high-quality, safe practice. ? Provide emotional and practical support to young people, helping them develop life skills. ? Lead shifts when required, ensuring consistency in care and service delivery. Essential CriteriaEducation & Knowledge ? Degree in Youth Work or a related field ? Registered with a relevant professional body ? Knowledge of the challenges impacting vulnerable children and young people ? Understanding of personal, social, and educational development ? Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies Experience ? Experience working directly with children and young people with challenging behaviours ? Experience in applying safeguarding and child protection policies Skills & Abilities ? Ability to listen, communicate, and build trusting relationships with young people ? Strong teamwork and collaboration skills ? Ability to record and report factual daily notes and incident reports ? Ability to write reports and provide management information ?
