Salary: £21,000 - £22,500 per annum

About the Role
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Legal Secretary to join a well-established law firm based in South Shields. This is a permanent, full-time role, where you will be providing critical administrative support to a team of Residential Conveyancers. Your role will involve assisting with the day-to-day duties of conveyancing cases, liaising with clients, and managing the flow of documentation. Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide administrative support to conveyancers, including preparing legal documents and correspondence.
2. Manage client files, ensuring all documentation is up to date and properly stored.
3. Act as the first point of contact for clients, handling inquiries via phone, email, and face-to-face in a professional manner.
4. Coordinate appointments, meetings, and maintain an efficient diary system for the conveyancing team.
5. Process and format legal documents related to property sales, purchases, transfers, and remortgages.
6. Ensure compliance with internal procedures and external regulatory requirements.
7. Assist in the preparation of contracts, transfer deeds, and Land Registry applications.
8. Liaise with external parties such as estate agents, mortgage brokers, and other solicitors to facilitate the smooth progress of cases.
9. Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including distributing documents to the appropriate personnel.
10. Handle file opening, billing, and closing procedures in line with the firm's policies.
About You:
1. Experience: Previous experience as a Legal Secretary or in a similar legal support role is essential, preferably within residential conveyancing.
2. Skills: Strong organisational abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
3. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client-focused attitude.
4. IT Proficiency: Comfortable using legal software, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and case management systems.
5. Team Player: Able to work collaboratively with colleagues, maintaining a positive and proactive approach.
6. Discretion: You must handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
