Main Duties: To provide company, encourage him to communicate, take him out for walks by the sea, and on bike rides locally along the bike route. Accompany him when he goes swimming and for other activities.
Hours of Work: Flexible, probably part-time, dovetailing with the work of other personal assistants/carers sharing the role; likely initially to be about 17 - 20 hours per week.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
* Friendly and welcoming manner.
* A basic understanding of autism.
* Patience and good communication skills.
* Physically active, cheerful and motivating.
DBS Check:
* An Enhanced DBS (CRB) check is required.
Preferred:
* Experience in this type of work is preferred but not essential. More important are appropriate personal qualities including a responsible manner, a sense of humour, and a relaxed attitude.
* This could be a very good introduction to anyone wishing to work with special needs adults or children, perhaps as a carer or therapist in the future.
* Physically fit, active, and enthusiastic would be great.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time.
Pay: £12.00-£12.50 per hour.
Expected Hours: 17 – 20 per week.
