Working within a busy Prescription Services function; checking the accuracy and legality of a range of prescriptions, and ensuring the related orders are ready for clinical screening in order to meet the highest quality standards and patient care.
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Specialise in reviewing prescriptions across a range of order types including regular NHS cycle prescriptions, named patient orders, TTOs, controlled drugs and Clozapine programmes.
2. Process orders covering medicines, sundries and devices on a variety of legal requisitions and prescriptions in accordance with departmental guidelines and with appropriate use of systems.
3. Identify and feedback prescription compliance issues to originating prescribers, ascertain the reason for non-compliance and offer a solution to resubmit appropriately, seeking guidance from Pharmacists as required and feeding back issues to Visiting Pharmacists.
4. Respond professionally and appropriately to incoming calls, emails and visitors to the business.
5. Resolve unstocked items; check situation with outstanding owing items and ascertain the reason for non-supply of pharmaceuticals and to offer an alternative if appropriate, seeking guidance from Pharmacists as required.
6. Support the Prescription Services Team Leader and Manager in ensuring the function operates ethically and in line with company Standard Operating Procedures and meeting regulatory standards.
7. Participate in coverage of duties for Dispensing Assistants as required across a range of order types including regular NHS cycle prescriptions, named patient orders, TTOs, controlled drugs and Clozapine programmes.
8. Follow our company Standard Operating Procedures and observing the GPhC principles and standards, and ensuring effective use of systems and technology.
9. Adhere to our company and external Health & Safety Standards; including taking reasonable care of your own health and safety and that of colleagues, cooperating with management and following instructions, completing the provided training, and prompt reporting of any hazards, illnesses or injuries.
10. Adhere to our company Data Protection procedures; including the completion of annual training, using the provided secure ways to handle and dispose of data, and prompt reporting of any suspected data breaches.

Education, Experience and Skills:
Education:
NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) level 2 in Pharmacy Services, or equivalent (desirable).
Experience:
Minimum one year of experience within a prescription services / labelling service – or similar such as a pharmacy checking role.
