Our client, a leading company in the power utilities and energy sector, is currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in various locations in Edinbrugh.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will lead the cost management and contractual aspects of projects, providing expertise and guidance to ensure successful project delivery. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in quantity surveying, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion. Senior Quantity Surveyors play a crucial role in maximising project profitability while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation of accurate cost estimates and detailed project budgets.
Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle, identifying cost-saving opportunities and managing variances.
Provide strategic advice on cost planning and procurement strategies to optimise project outcomes.
Manage the preparation, negotiation, and administration of construction contracts, including variations, claims, and disputes.
Ensure contracts are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as client specifications.
Oversee the tendering process, including the preparation of tender documents, evaluation of bids, and selection of suppliers and subcontractors.
Develop and implement cost control measures to ensure projects are delivered within budgetary constraints.
Identify and assess risks associated with projects and develop risk mitigation strategies.
Provide leadership and guidance to project teams in managing risks effectively.
Job Requirements:
Experience in dealing with DNO / Power / Renewable Energy projects or frameworks
Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
Extensive experience in quantity surveying, including a proven track record of managing complex construction projects.
NEC Contract experience
Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement processes, and cost management principles.
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office suite.
Analytical mindset with the ability to solve problems and make informed decisions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
