Consultant in Paediatric and Perinatal Histopathology

We are seeking to appoint two committed full-time (10 PA) Consultant Paediatric and Perinatal Pathologists to join our experienced and highly motivated team. This post will include perinatal and coroner's postmortem pathology, placental pathology, and routine paediatric surgical pathology.
Main duties of the job
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* Participation in the perinatal and hospital-consented autopsy service.
* Participation in the coroner's autopsy service.
* Reporting routine paediatric surgical pathology, including gastrointestinal biopsies.
* Subspecialist reporting may be required to meet the needs of the department.
* Contribution to the paediatric oncology/neuro-oncology service.
* Involvement in relevant clinicopathological meetings and MDTs.
* Contribution to the training and supervision of junior medical staff.
HM Coroner Postmortems can be undertaken within or outside the job plan and this can be discussed based on service needs at the time of the appointment, expertise and interests of the appointee.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* MB ChB or equivalent
* Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
* Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview. Applicants who are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
* FRCPath or equivalent
* MD, PhD or other higher degree
Teaching and Audit
* Experience of Audit in Cellular pathology
* Teaching of junior medical staff
* Teaching of medical students
* Experience of supervision of ST2+ level trainees including workplace-based assessment and MSF
* Trained Clinical Supervisor
* Trained Educational Supervisor
Academic Achievements and Research
* Publications in recognised Pathological and Clinical Journals
* Specialist interest in areas of Cellular pathology complementary to other consultants in the departments
* Research projects relating to the specialist area
Interpersonal / Professional Skills
* Organisational skills
* Involvement in service development and/or quality improvement processes
