We are looking for both male and female mentors to support students in primary and secondary schools. The role will help students overcome social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. Role Details: Job Title: Mentor Location: St Albans & surrounding areas Salary: Dependent on experience Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Part-time / Zero Hours / Subcontracted (Self-Employed) Working Hours: 5-10 hours per week (term-time only, 38 weeks per year), with flexibility to increase hours based on service demand About the Role: As a Mentor, you will provide targeted one-to-one and group interventions for primary and secondary school students facing emotional and behavioural difficulties. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people, offering guidance, motivation, and emotional support to help them reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities: ? Deliver one-to-one and group interventions to support students’ emotional and behavioural needs ? Implement strategies that promote emotional wellbeing and positive behaviour ? Encourage self-confidence, resilience, and positive behaviour in students ? Assist students in setting goals and developing strategies to achieve them ? Address challenges related to attendance, learning difficulties, or personal issues ? Monitor student progress, maintain records, and assess intervention effectiveness Person Specification Essential: ? Educated to GCSE level ? Experience working with children and young people in a professional setting ? Understanding of diverse needs and backgrounds ? Strong knowledge of mental health, emotional wellbeing strategies, and behaviour management ? Ability to identify individual needs and plan strategically ? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills ? Ability to build trusting relationships with students and teaching staff ? Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures ? Self-motivated with strong time management skills ? Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving ? A full driving licence and access to a car (mileage allowance provided) Desirable: ? Qualifications in education, social work, or a related field ?
