Lead SEN English Teacher - Exciting Opportunity
Location: Near Leyland, Lancashire
Salary: M1 - UPS2, plus an additional £1,500 expert payment per annum ...
Hours: 40 hours per week - Term-Time Only

We are seeking a Lead SEN English Teacher to take on a dynamic and rewarding role, leading English, literacy, phonics, and careers education in a specialist educational environment for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.
Role Overview:
As the Lead SEN English Teacher, you will:
1. Lead and coordinate English, literacy, and phonics across the school.
2. Develop and deliver tailored interventions, ensuring progress is tracked and outcomes are improved.
3. Act as Careers Officer, ensuring compliance with the Gatsby Benchmarks for careers education.
4. Provide training and guidance to staff, and work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to report on teaching quality and student progress.
5. Play a key role in developing English as a core part of the curriculum to support the success of every student.
What We're Looking For:
6. PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification with relevant in-service training.
7. Experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with SEMH, SLD, PMLD, or ASD.
8. Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
9. Experience managing a variety of behaviour strategies, including those for students with challenging behaviours.
Successful candidates will have experience delivering a differentiated curriculum in a therapeutic or specialist setting, supporting students with a wide range of needs.
