The role
This is an excellent opportunity to join the industry during a period of unprecedented growth where you will help shape the future of the high voltage electrical transmission network in the North of Scotland and contribute in the Transition to Net Zero.
The Senior Development Project Manager in the SSENT Offshore Directorate will report to the Lead Project Manager and manage the Development phase of large capital projects in the network transmission business, with particular focus on the offshore cable elements such as landfall site selection, marine environmental assessment (MEA), marine surveys, cable route development and offshore platform site selection.
The remit of Development projects pertains to the derisking and refining of the project prior to handover to delivery and includes fisheries and public consultation and engagement, site selection, the planning and marine consenting process and supply chain engagement.
You will
1. Provide effective Health, Safety, Wellbeing and Environmental leadership, ensuring compliance to all business health, safety, wellbeing and environmental policies and standards.
2. Evaluate and assess project feasibility, development of options and initial designs, and selection of preferred options that are consentable and constructable, meeting business case requirements.
3. Manage the selection of suitable landfall sites and subsea cable route options, leading a cross-functional team to select and work with key suppliers to undertake required surveys and studies to inform design. Lead and manage the planning and consenting process ensuring the project meets the requirements of the Regulator, Local Authorities and Statutory bodies.
4. Provide effective communication and management of all key internal and external interfaces across various project workstreams in the development phase, including with our JV partners where appropriate.
5. Lead cross-functional, multi-discipline teams using robust project management systems, tools and techniques to report and deliver key project deliverables meeting governance requirements.
You have
1. A strong appreciation and focus on health and safety, and awareness of how to influence this at the design stage.
2. Extensive experience in the early development phase of large, capital, offshore projects (preferably in the Electrical generation/transmission sectors) and ideally managing projects through the consenting and regulatory approval stages.
3. Strong and demonstrable experience leading and managing key project interfaces across multiple stakeholder groups and external supply chain partners, particularly in a multi-contract delivery model and NEC contracts.
4. Advanced knowledge and understanding of project management systems, risk management and large capital project governance. Experience of managing and implementing CDM 2015 regulations would be beneficial.
5. Excellent effective communication skills both written and verbal with experience of communication with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels, including members of the public.
6. A degree qualification and membership of a recognised professional body would be of benefit. A recognised Project Management qualification would be desirable.
