Job Opportunity: Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside (CWRR) Clyde Crossing Bridge Operations Team
Renfrewshire Council is looking to recruit a team of motivated, enthusiastic, and experienced individuals to be responsible for the 24-hour, day a year operation of the Clyde Waterfront and Renfrew Riverside (CWRR) Clyde Crossing bridge. The primary role of the team members will be the operation of this new £million Council asset, which will be the first of its kind on the Clyde.
The opening and closing of the bridge is controlled remotely from the Control Room building, situated next to the structure (on the southern side in Renfrew) and is required to open on demand to allow the passage of River Vessels. Team members will be based in the control room building at the bridge and will be an important part of the Climate, Public Protections & Roads service in Environment, Housing, and Infrastructure.
The team will be led by a Bridges and Structures Manager, with each shift having 2 team members working on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, along with 1 Roads and Infrastructure Officer and 1 Roads and Infrastructure Coordinator on each shift. The role will involve both dayshift and nightshift hours, with associated enhancements paid for night time working.
Although the role will be on a 37hr per week basis, it will also require 1.5 hours of contractual overtime to be paid each week, taking the working week up to 38.5 hours. The Roads and Infrastructure Coordinator will report to the Roads and Infrastructure Officer, who in turn will report to the Bridges and Structures Manager.
The operations team is responsible for ensuring that the bridge is open or closed as required, in accordance with specific operational protocols and key bridge performance metrics. In addition to bridge operation responsibilities, team members will also be responsible for a number of other office-based roads and structures activities for which full training will be provided.
Main Duties of the Post
1. Ensure the bridge is operated according to specific protocols.
2. Perform additional roads and structures activities as needed.
3. Provide high-quality services to the public and drive service improvements.
4. Collaborate with team members to support Renfrewshire’s plan for Net Zero.
5. Analyse data and report results as part of your responsibilities.
As a key part of the team, you will provide an energetic and effective contribution to the team, with a passion for delivering high-quality services and driving service improvements and organizational change. You should be able to evidence a "can do" team-centered approach with a willingness to provide high-quality services to the public of Renfrewshire.
It is essential that you have:
1. Experience in analysing data and reporting results.
2. Experience in information management and document control.
3. An awareness of current health and safety legislation and procedures.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
5. The ability to create, utilise, and control versions of programme/project documentation.
