This position is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of managing a bar, to take over the running of the events bar. Working within a very small team, you will need to be flexible and adaptable, willing to work hard and come up with ideas to help grow the business. You will need to have energy and drive, and excellent customer service skills.
Reporting to the General Manager, the areas of responsibility for the Bar and Duty Manager include the following:
1. Running the bar for events
2. Setting up and opening and closing the bar
3. Maintaining the bar - weekly line cleaning, cleaning and restocking the bar
4. Cash management, including setting up floats and cashing up
5. Running activity and stock reports from the till system (EPOS)
6. Tracking margins and sourcing stock to maximise profit margins
7. Working within a budget and reporting against that budget
8. Doing the weekly stock-take and ordering stock as required
9. Recruiting, training and overseeing casual members of bar staff
10. Developing the bar and café offer
11. Generating ideas to increase bar revenue
12. Opening and closing the building as required - with sole responsibility for the venue at times
13. Doing the room set-ups for bookings and hires
14. Covering weekday evening and daytime shifts as required
15. Building management and operational duties, such as meter reads, fire alarm tests, maintenance reviews
