It is a great time to join Forgemasters, as the business goes through an ongoing period of growth and modernisation after being acquired by the UK Ministry of Defence In 2021. The acquisition has secured our role as a critical supplier to the next generation of UK defence programmes. As part of this programme of work our plant and equipment will be modernised over the next 10 years, creating new opportunities for the business and our colleagues.
Based at our 64 acre site, sitting in the heart of Sheffield, we are looking for a Graduate Sales Manager. The Role will work within the sales team and develop a portfolio of accounts and ultimately achieve allocated sales target.
Role Responsibilities
* Identify new sales opportunities through product or market diversification in line with the sales and marketing strategy.
* Working with the sales manager maintain regular contact with customers, to quantify new sales potential and ensuring optimum exploitation of potential leads
* Establish a strong network of external relationships and liaise with representatives and overseas agents on sales visits
* Maintain a regular contact schedule to proactively account manage existing clients to build on existing business and ensure SFEL inclusion in the tender process
* Be able to represent the full technical and product capability of Sheffield Forgemasters to customers
* Proactively pursue profitable opportunities to expand the product offering to existing customers
* Follow up all enquiries and leads, liaising internally and taking a proactive interest in technical issues and new developments
* Spend up to 50% of time travelling to promote products through client visits to existing and new customers
* Develop long term sustainable relationships at all levels with demanding clients based on excellent service and support
* Coordinate with technical, RD&T and production personnel internally, to achieve potential on new product applications with existing customers
* Understand markets and competitors to give guidance when pricing strategy
* Support customer negotiations to close sales deals in line with customer requirements and business objectives
* Provide regular feedback to the Head of Sales regarding sales prospects, competitor activity and market conditions
* Support marketing as required by attending tradeshows, conferences and other marketing events
* Make technical presentations and demonstrating how a product will meet client needs involving in-house technical experts as required
* Demonstrate the highest ethical standards and exemplifies the company values and behaviours
About you
* Minimum 2:2 bachelor’s degree level in Engineering, Metallurgy, Business or complimentary discipline
* IT literate
* Excellent communicator
* Strong work ethic
* Team player able to integrate with, colleagues, across the business
* Outgoing personality
* Willing to travel extensively worldwide
* Resilience and Tenacity
* Ability to work on their own Initiative
Days/Hours of Work
37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with flexible start and finish time between 06:15 - 09:30 and 14:30 – 18:00.
