The East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP) is a transformational programme with a vision to create the next generation railway that works better for people. ECDP and the deployment of European Train Control System (ETCS) brings significant change to the rail industry, with a once in a generation opportunity to transform how the railway works and is maintained for all users including On Track Machines, Freight, Charter and Heritage Operators and Passengers. Working in partnership, Network Rail, Industry Partners, including the OTM Sector, the Government and Trades Unions, ECDP will upgrade the train control systems to create a more dynamic, more reliable, and more flexible railway. The Programme will introduce ETCS in the first instance on the East Coast Mainline South (ECML-S); i.e., between London King's Cross and Stoke Tunnel, including the Northern City Line (NCL) between Moorgate and Finsbury Park, with further program roll outs in the future. We are looking to recruit a Trainer Assessor - OTM/ETCS to support both ECDP and VolkerRail's OTM business, a rare opportunity to join the management team in a high performing organisation with a strong order book and proven record for consistent safe delivery. Together this will support the transformation from business as usual today, to the introduction of ETCS and ETCS becoming part of business as usual for VolkerRail for the future. The position is based in Frodingham with Travel You will be responsible for : Responsible for the development and implementation of training and assessment plans for train drivers and trainee drivers, for both conventional and ETCS infrastructure, to ensure staff acquire and maintain the required level of knowledge and experience in the most effective manner, in accordance with the standards in place for train driving. Responsible for the development and implementation of training and assessment plans for operational activities in line with individual competencies held, in accordance with the standards in place. Responsible for ensuring the required levels of route knowledge is attained as set out in individual programmes for train drivers and trainees. Responsible for the development of learning methods ensuring the use of the more diverse methods. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Develop and implement strategies for capturing and sharing best practices across projects. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders. Support the development and implementation of Culture and Engagement activities associated with ETCS/ECDP. About you Essential Hold a valid and current European Train Driving Licence with a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience as set out in Industry Standards. Demonstrate understanding of Industry Standards relating to Train Driving. Previous experience of undertaking trainer/assessor/mentor duties within train driving would be a distinct advantage. Flexible, proactive and positive attitude; diplomatic and patient, demonstrating the ability to co-ordinate multiple parties and act collaboratively. Be able to maintain good relationships with experienced managers and employees. Be able to communicate at all levels within the business as well as externally. Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Willingness to travel as required by the role. Full UK driving licence.
