Job Title: Finance Manager
Basis: 25 hours

Reports to: Practice Manager
Accountable to: Partners of New Hayesbank Surgery
The Finance Manager will be expected to develop, organise and manage the day-to-day management of finance for the business, ensuring it operates in a profitable and cost-effective manner in keeping with the financial aspirations of the Partners. The post holder will work with the current Finance Administrator.
The post holder will need to hold a finance qualification AAT or equivalent.
The post holder is responsible to the Practice Manager but will also work closely with the Patient Services Manager, Ophthalmology Services Lead, Nurse Manager, and Partners of the practice.
MAIN DUTIES
1. To work as part of the Management Team to ensure that the Practice operates in a profitable and cost-effective manner.
2. Support the partnership and Practice Manager in the provision of timely and accurate financial information and advice.
3. Be responsible for the analysis of the adverse/favourable/trend movements between budgets and actual income/expenditure as part of the performance management process.
4. Have significant involvement in the annual budget setting process and ongoing in-year budget maintenance/reconciliation.
5. Assist in identifying potential areas of cost and/or performance improvement, whilst challenging existing and pre-conceived services provided and also the ongoing monitoring of such plans once implemented, particularly in the initiation/early stages of a service and annual review.
6. Provide ongoing financial advice and support and answer queries arising from the financial reports and to produce ad hoc reports and analysis as required.
Organisational Responsibilities
1. Maintaining and increasing sources of income – analysing and reporting on threats and opportunities.
2. Understanding the financial implications of contract changes and legislation.
3. Successfully communicate routine, complex and contentious financial information.
4. To produce statistical and management information for benchmarking analysis as required to identify where potential benefits can be realised.
5. To produce and interpret a monthly/quarterly income and expenditure position.
Operational Responsibilities
1. Oversee record keeping.
2. Cash-flow monitoring and forecasting.
3. Prepare regular forecasts and reports to Practice Manager and Partners.
4. Oversee purchase and ledger processing.
5. Confidentially manage Partners drawings.
6. Liaise with our outsourced payroll agent.
7. Oversee management and reconciliation of bank accounts.
8. Manage practice accounts, submit year-end figures promptly, and liaise with Practice Accountant.
9. Ensure systems are in place and followed for invoicing of private services.
10. Ensure effective systems are in place to minimise and pursue bad debts.
11. Work closely with Partners and Practice Management to ensure that the practice meets all quality indicators and targets (including Quality and Outcome Framework and Care Quality Commission).
12. Develop and maintain effective communication both within the practice and with relevant outside agencies.
13. To ensure in conjunction with Management team that the aims and objectives of the organisation are met.

Pay: From £18.00 per hour
