Job summary Secure Mental Health Care for Lancashire and South Cumbria is provided at Guild Lodge, Whittingham. The service has steadily expanded from its inception in 1999 and currently has a range of inpatient and community services including 164 beds. Guild Lodge consists of 3 main service lines (14 wards), which include:o Men's serviceo Women's serviceo Acquired Brain Injury Service Caring for adults within Medium and Low Security, and Step Down environments Each of the services has their own model of care and provides bespoke training in addition to the comprehensive Trust Induction. The Senior Nurse for Safety and Security role provides specialist advice and operational management of matters of safety and security across Guild Lodge. The role oversees, monitors and ensures systems are in in place to strengthen and maintain physical, relational and procedural security in relation to service users, staff and environments. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring staff working within the forensic inpatient service have the appropriate skills and knowledge in matters relating to security. Main duties of the job The post holder will report to the Senior Nurse Manager with clinical oversight from the RRP consultant nurse and have a degree of autonomy within the role for duties performed. There is also a requirement to facilitate regular security meetings, develop and share with the Senior Leadership team reports, feedback, and learning. The post holder is also responsible for managing a small team of Safety & Security supervisors and will provide oversight of the security functions undertaken by the control room operators. The post holder will work predominantly within core working hours. There is also an expectation that the post holder will work out of hours.
