A n exciting opportunity has arisen to join a forward-thinking and expanding community adult Speech and Language Therapy service. This role would suit a new or experienced Band 6 with an interest in Parkinson’s Disease, neurological disorders, and service development.
This role would incorporate implementation of a quality improvement project for patients with Parkinson’s disease.
Main duties of the job
Postgraduate training and experience in dysphagia and independent dysphagia management is a requirement of this post. You will have relevant experience in managing adults with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties.
You will be expected to contribute to audit, QI and service development and will receive regular clinical supervision, support through team meetings, monthly clinical forums, and access to further CPD opportunities. Evidence of appropriate qualification and HCPC membership is essential. Driving/car access is an essential requirement for this post; however, we would encourage interested non-drivers to apply and consider applications on a case-by-case basis.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Recognised speech & language therapy degree qualification or equivalent.
Training
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
* Evidence of appropriate external and internal training as appropriate to specialism.
* Completion of clinical supervision training.
* Previous FEES experience.
Experience
* Substantial clinical experience with an adult acquired caseload.
* Assessment, treatment, management of complex patients with progressive neurological conditions.
* Experience of working with other professionals relevant to client groups.
* Experience of undertaking appraisal and planning CPD for less experienced staff.
* Experience of being involved in clinical audit/service evaluation/quality improvement.
* Development and delivery education and training packages.
* Experience of supporting patients with AAC provision.
Personal Qualities
* Good interpersonal skills/teamwork.
* Knowledge of BHC.
Professional Registration
* Health and Care Professions Council Licence to practice.
* Member of relevant CEN(s).
* Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.
Skills
* Able to demonstrate a high level of competence in the management of communication patients.
* To be able to independently assess and manage patients with dysphagia.
* To be competent in handling the emotional and psychosocial aspects of working with a complex SLT caseload in the community.
* Knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions for dysphagia and communication.
* Knowledge of the principles of clinical governance.
* Knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to the specialist client group.
* Current UK driver’s license/Car driver with access to own car for work purposes.
