This post may incorporate a significant period of mentorship covering clinical techniques in advance of those usually experienced at college as required. These will include extensive nail surgery experience, Post Tibial blocks, deep enucleations, needling/blunt dissections of verrucae, MSK podiatry, and wound care management of the high-risk limb.
No previous experience is necessary although an understanding of the philosophy of care aims is desirable.

This will fall under Annex 21 development and it is anticipated that the development period would last no longer than 12 months.
This does not exclude experienced clinicians entering the post immediately at Band 6 level.
You will have a BSc qualification in Podiatric Medicine and be qualified in L.A and nail surgery, along with registration with the HCPC.
The work base is at Dunbar Hospital, Thurso, Caithness, which is about 2 hours and 30 minutes drive from the Highland capital Inverness.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
