Senior Staff Nurse(RMHN/ LD/RGN) Neurorehabilitation
Location : York
Salary: £45,195 - £50,395 DOE
Hours: Full-time contracts are hours and cover 7 x12hr shifts every two weeks.
Brainkind Neurological Centre York, is a purpose-built 40-bed state-of-the-art independent hospital., providing high-quality neuropsychiatric, neurobehavioral assessment and rehabilitation for people following an acquired brain injury with a range of additional mental health and physical conditions.

Main duties of the job
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To provide clinical leadership on a daily basis ensuring that exceptional standards of care are adhered to all times, by acting as a positive role model and ensuring that best practice guidelines are followed.
Assisting in the effective assessment, admission and discharge planning with service users care team.
Establish systems and processes to ensure effective communication and continuity of service user care liaising with inter-disciplinary teams.
Empower and enable staff to contribute to the delivery of high quality person-centred care.
Promote and facilitate a learning culture within the ward and a culture of reflective practice for all staff.
Establish highest care standards to meet or exceed current standards as well as ensuring that risk management strategies are in place.
Responsible for ensuring that all staff recognise the potential for or signs of service user harm, abuse and neglect, including poor clinical practice, report all such occurrences and take all responsible steps to protect the service user. Responsible for ensuring that all staff identify and report concerns regarding safeguarding of all those who may be at risk.
Involvement in staff recruitment and retention.
Support the induction of new staff and take on the role of mentor (where applicable) for students and newly qualified staff.

Promote effective confidential communication with service users, relatives families, carers and colleagues (including external personnel) providing information and support to in decision-making and advocate on the service users behalf.
Adhere to organisational and NMC guidelines for practice requirements and standards such as the safe handling, administration, storage of all medication.
To establish and maintain a high profile with service users, carers and all staff.
To ensure that appropriate risk assessments are undertaken and that agreed action plans have been implemented.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
6. RMN/RNLD/RGN
7. Two years experience of working as a Staff Nurse within a Neurobehavioural setting.
8. Experience of managing a team
9. Demonstrate an understanding of Clinical Governance
10. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the Mental Capacity Act
11. Knowledge of NMC standards
12. Ability and willingness to provide training to student nurses, preceptorship nurses and the wider team
Desirable
13. Level 3 safeguarding training
14. Experience of involvement with CQC inspections
15. Evidence of CPD since qualification
16. Experience of conducting capacity assessments and leading on best interested decision-making
17. Demonstrate implementation of the Mental Health Act as a nurse of the prescribed class
