Temporary General Practice Nurse (Part-Time)
We are currently seeking a professional, friendly, and enthusiastic part-time general registered nurse to join our team on a temporary basis. Ideally, candidates should have varied experience in a primary care setting. The position is part-time (up to 22 hours) on a rolling contract.
Successful applicants are required to provide a standard Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check. The employer will cover the disclosure expense.
Main Duties of the Job
The role includes, but is not limited to:
* Cervical smears and other women's health services
* Wound care and ulcer care
* Dopplers
* Removal of sutures
* Travel immunizations
* ECGs
* Asthma/COPD management
* Chronic disease management
* Diabetic foot checks
* Lifestyle advice
* Contraception reviews
* Child and adult immunizations
* Venepuncture (10 years+)
* Near patient testing (INR)
About Us
We are a 4-partner, 9 GP training practice with 3 GP trainers and an IP pharmacist who supervises pharmacist trainees. We offer a supportive environment for furthering skills and knowledge, making this role suitable for a nurse with development aspirations. We operate across two sites, serving 10,000 patients, and work from modern premises with good links to the A470 corridor. Salary will depend on skills and experience.
Job Responsibilities
Job responsibilities may vary depending on the skills and qualifications of the individual but may include:
* Women's health and cytology
* Routine immunizations
* Childhood immunizations
* Travel clinic immunizations
* Requesting pathology tests, such as urine culture and swabs
* Chronic disease management (including diabetic foot checks)
* Respiratory management / Spirometry
* Venepuncture
* Removal of sutures/staples
* Chaperoning
* Following agreed clinical protocols with referral to senior nurse or GPs as appropriate
* ECGs
Person Specification
Experience
* Experience of working in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
* Experience with Microsoft Office software
* Experience in dealing with the public/patients
* Experience working with guidelines, protocols, patient group directions, and patient-specific directions
* Leadership and management experience
* Experience in primary care
* Experience with EMIS clinical system and other clinical systems
* Knowledge of DAWN, GPTR, WCCG, and Welsh Immunisation System (WIS)
Qualifications
* Must be a Registered General Nurse with NMC [Adult & Children]
* Certificates in travel health, child and adult vaccinations and immunisations, cervical cytology, chronic disease management, wound care, venepuncture, ECG/Doppler
* Recognised qualification to diploma level or above
* A demonstrable commitment to professional development
* Minor illness qualification and experience [Desirable]
