Remuneration: £60,000 + company benefits
We have an exciting opportunity for an Automation Engineer to join our team specialising in engineering and creating new solutions for special purpose machinery, factory automation, robotic systems, process automation and bespoke automated projects across numerous industry sectors.
Automation Engineer Key Responsibilities:
1. Create and manage electrical and mechanical system design for our automation projects, from concept through to manufacturing, including functional hardware, prototyping and proof of concept.
2. Work with engineering teams and review mechanical designs to ensure that they meet specification and requirements.
3. Provide technical support to colleagues and team members throughout entire solution process and product development cycle.
4. Assist the Mechanical Engineering Manager in fulfilling their duties and, when required, serve as the department's acting manager in their absence.
5. Evaluate mechanical, electro-mechanical and control system design approaches that will meet the functional performance requirements of the automated solution.
6. Develop mechanical sub-system and component requirements that will be used to inform and drive the detailed electro-mechanical design and component selection.
7. Selection, design and implementation of stepper motors based on system functional performance requirements.
8. Design, position, tuning and troubleshooting of servo control systems.
Automation Engineer Key Skills and Experience:
1. Electro-Mechanical experience of Servo System design.
2. Knowledge and experience of robotic systems and their application within industrial automation, pneumatic systems, servo and motor systems, specification and selection of components and parts used to build bespoke automated solutions.
3. Prior experience of working in a similar position with strong electrical and mechanical knowledge building special purpose machinery, working on bespoke automated projects.
4. Electrical / Mechanical / Electro-Mechanical / Mechatronics Degree or similarly high-level degree encompassing experience of electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
5. Ability to conceive and develop innovative, practical, and robust electro-mechanical designs that are based on sound engineering principles.
6. Ability to analyse a system's mechanical behaviour, troubleshoot and diagnose performance problems and propose robust and practical solutions.
7. Excellent interpersonal abilities and proven abilities to work collaboratively in a cross-functional project environment.
8. Proficiency in the creation of 3D CAD models and assemblies.
9. Exceptional written and oral communication skills (working in English).
