Job Description
As a Grounds Maintenance Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the outdoor spaces at Stirling Sports Village. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will ensure the preparation, maintenance and development of all grass areas, and synthetic surfaces to highest standards and are suitable for sporting events. Additionally, you will oversee the upkeep of the main grass football pitch. Your responsibilities will include adhering to all health and safety policies and procedures; identifying and managing prospective contractors and suppliers in line with Active Stirling’s procurement processes and undertaking a range of duties to assist in the day-to-day maintenance of Stirling Sports Village.
Requirements
•Understanding and knowledge of maintaining a grass football pitch and other pitch surfaces.• Experience working in a sports ground preparation environment.• Green Keeping/Ground’s maintenance experience.• Full UK Driving Licence.• Ability to work effectively as a team member.• Ability to work unsupervised.• Ability to work on own initiative.• PA1 & PA6 Certificates in Safe use of Pesticides.• Awareness of health and safety procedures.• Ability to carry out manual handling duties.• Proven ability of working to a high standard. Desirable - • Certificate in Chainsaw Operations: Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross-cutting, Felling and Processing Trees up to mm.• Experience of working in the sport and leisure industry.• Proven problem-solving skills in a customer facing environment.• Experience of working with the public and providing a high level of customer service.• Experience in negotiating and purchasing supplies.
Responsibilities
You will support the Maintenance and Estates Manager with ongoing repairs and pre-planned maintenance, ensuring the facilities we provide are of the highest standard. Responsible for arranging machinery servicing and repairs. You will also oversee the ordering of equipment and supplies for the upkeep of pitches and external areas of Stirling Sports Village. This includes but is not limited to, maintaining the grass, hedges, swales, and rear fields to ensure they are well-presented in accordance with Active Stirling brand standards.
