About the Role: As the Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a vital role in shaping and driving this company’s environmental, health, and safety (EHS) policies. With the autonomy to influence EHS culture and procedures, you’ll ensure compliance with the latest UK legislation and industry standards, safeguarding the wellbeing of the workforce while also aligning with sustainability goals. This position calls for a proactive individual capable of working independently to not only meet but exceed industry benchmarks for health and safety.
This is an ideal role for someone who feels ready to develop into an EHS Manager within the next 12 months.
About the Company: This company is an independent modern manufacturing business with a high degree of automated processes. They have a range of complex high heat high pressure processes and are going through an exciting organic growth period.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and enforce comprehensive EHS policies to ensure full compliance with UK legislation and industry standards.
* Collaborate with engineering teams as an active operational stakeholder, to uphold process safety, maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications.
* Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments, implementing proactive solutions to mitigate hazards.
* Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventive strategies.
* Manage waste and emissions, ensuring adherence to environmental permits and controls.
* Act as a liaison with regulatory bodies, prepare compliance reports, and handle audits.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
* Demonstrated experience in EHS especially within food production or manufacturing.
* Professional certifications like NEBOSH or IOSH are highly desirable.
* An in-depth understanding of UK EHS legislation and standards relevant to the manufacturing industry.
* Experience with EHS management systems and tools.
* Strong project management and leadership skills, with the confidence to act autonomously.
* Expertise in EHS reporting, backed by knowledge of international standards.
* The ability to deliver engaging EHS training that fosters a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
