The Role:

This Mechanical Design Engineer position forms a key part of the wider P2i Engineering team, and will be involved in the design and development of hardware architecture for both machine tooling and retrofits, for both current and new equipment. They will be responsible for identifying and problem-solving issues related to production processes, equipment, and manufacturability.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and will ultimately ensure that P2i’s innovative technology is implemented and maintained efficiently and within the parameters defined. In addition, there will be development projects looking at re-designing the systems and trialling new hardware as the individual projects dictate.
This is a great opportunity for an individual with some prior mechanical engineering experience and an interest in working with cutting-edge nanotechnology.
Essential Requirements:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Design Engineering (other technical qualifications considered).
Other Requirements:
1. Substantial experience in mechanical design role.
2. Strong Solidworks design capabilities (component & assemblies); other design packages considered.
3. An extensive knowledge of a wide range of materials and manufacturing processes is required – preferably, but not limited to, machining, plastic injection moulding and stamping.
4. The candidate needs excellent problem-solving skills and must possess and be able to demonstrate a flair for creativity and innovation.
5. ‘Cradle to grave’ development experience, with exposure to supplier sourcing, prototyping, design validation, mass production release.
6. BOM creation and management.
7. Must be able to work on their own initiative and demonstrate excellent organisational, time management and prioritisation skills.
8. Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
Desirable Requirements:
1. Ability to design calculations and the application of advanced simulation/CAE techniques.
2. Can create/participate in FMEAs.
3. Design of Experiment programs and Design Verification Plans.
4. Experience of CE/UL standards would be advantageous.
5. Participate in activities with cross disciplinary project teams.
