As our Lead Product Manager, the job may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in the office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and the location advertised will be your contractual place of work.
Our opportunity is full time, 37 hours per week based from Exeter HQ.

Your world of expertise
We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven Lead Product Manager to develop our Citizens, Hazards and Media portfolio. These application products play a critical role in the delivery of weather and weather warnings information to media users, emergency responders, government and UK citizens.
You will be part of a fast moving and supportive team working together to build user centric products and working to uphold Government Digital Service principles. You will be accountable for a cross portfolio of products and be responsible for making evidenced based strategic product decisions, making key priority calls, empowering teams and managing strategic portfolio road maps and visions.
Your key duties:
* Provide leadership and strategic direction to all products in a portfolio or product group, this includes forming the vision and product strategies for the portfolio/ product group, and engaging teams and stakeholders in the development of these artefacts.
* Deputise for the Head of Products, supporting delivery, demand planning, forecasting, budgeting, supply planning, and prioritisation of products within the team.
* Provide strategic ownership and product life-cycling. Working across product portfolios to maintain a high-level product roadmap and overarching product area plan, determining and agreeing where products are in their lifecycle
* Build solid relationships with key internal, external, customer and suppliers - engaging and driving support for user-centred product management principles, ways of working and delivery
* Coach and lead Product, Agile, Lean and user-centred practices across Senior Product Managers, Product Managers and Associate Product Managers. This includes ensuring relevant learning & development interventions are in place to strengthen the value of Product Management in the Met Office
* Champion the product management profession across the organisation and as part of wider cross Government Product Management group(s) - driving through efficiencies and effectiveness within the product portfolio and the profession

As our Lead Product Manager, your total reward package will be up to £73,518.00 annually, which includes:
* £52,799.00 base pay
* An outstanding Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 28.97%
* Annual Leave starting at 27.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) rising to 32.5 days (plus Bank Holidays) after 5 years and option to buy or sell up to 5 days per year of annual leave
Essential Criteria, skills and experience:
You live and breathe product management at an expert level, using skills in agile working, product centred development, project and programme management to get product development commissioned and delivered.
Experience working in a product leadership role, developing and managing portfolio roadmaps to meet user needs, remove productivity blockers and finding new ways to meet user needs.
An expert by nature able to develop clear grounded business cases for product developments, built on a sound understanding of user needs and organisational objectives, with an ability to progress these through organisational approval and into product delivery.
You keep evolving your understanding of markets and customers by keeping abreast of the digital economy, advances in technology and changing customer/user demands, and use this to develop product plans and strategy.
Able to lead a team by working better together with colleagues to motivate, develop and empower people to develop excellent products at pace.
An ambassador for product management, you're a force for good with the ability to collaborate with colleagues across teams or departments (internally or externally) to enable action and change.
