You will join the Bridgewater Tidal Barrier project team and will either lead or support the delivery of one of our exciting workstreams in this high-profile project, flexing your involvement to suit the strength of the team. You will join as we move towards the construction phase however there are future opportunities in this role to lead flood risk management projects through the entire delivery process within the Environment Agency from strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design and then into construction and handover.
You will build a collaborative working environment with our suppliers, client representatives and other technical specialists. Applying your strong commercial acumen in project, contract, and risk management, you will establish effective relationships and facilitate efficient ways of working. You will make project decisions informed by technical leads whilst following governance procedures, project assurance and legislation.
The ability to develop a resilient network of relationships with stakeholders such as statutory authorities, landowners, and local communities to negotiate agreements, consents, approvals, and external funding is crucial to the success of the role.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
We are Programme and Contracts Management (PCM), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. Our teams provide the Environment Agency with an effective project and programme management service. Our well-qualified staff manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver flood risk management, environmental improvements, and shared ownership with local communities. Although dispersed through offices across the region we create collaborative spaces to share learning and develop our people.
Experience/skills required
Essential -
Qualification (e.g. Degree) in an engineering, environmental or geography related discipline.
Project experience in engineering, construction and/or flood & coastal risk management.
Experience in project and contract management.
Experience delivering challenging results through co-ordination of technical teams.
Established interpersonal and influencing skills, managing internal and external stakeholders.
Chartered membership of a professional body (eg ICE, CIWEM, APMP). If the candidate is not chartered they must be working towards this.
Desirable
An area of expertise (eg hydrology, river modelling, asset management, business case development, cost monitoring/forecasting, CDM, design or construction).
