The post holder will provide, to a high standard, a specialist rehabilitation service to patients with acquired brain injury, major trauma or complex physical disabilities. This will include the assessment, planning and implementation of patient centred individualised rehabilitation programmes based on the standards set by the British Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (BSPRM) and the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).
The duties of this post will include:
1. Support implementation of the regional major trauma network rehabilitation strategy.
2. Provide consultant led major trauma rehabilitation.
3. Provide consultant clinical leadership to the acute rehabilitation team.
4. Provide clinical input to the multidisciplinary team at the Prosthetic Centre, Sykes Street and contribute to MDT clinics in accordance with the NHS Commissioning board service specification D1d – Complex Disability Equipment – Prosthetics.
5. Regularly devote time for the training of junior medical staff, contributing as appropriate to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education.
6. Manage personal workload in such a way as to ensure that capacity is maximised and quality of care is optimised.
7. Provide clinical leadership and supervision to the nursing and support staff within the team.
8. Provide advice to Trust Managers, local General Practitioners and other interested parties, on the provision, planning and development of medical services.
9. Participate in MDT working and promote interdisciplinary working practices.
10. Work with regional networks to identify suitable patients and manage their transition into the service.
11. Explore service modernisation opportunities and development of community-led initiatives/support to primary care.
