Estimator required in Southeast London
GVR Solutions are currently representing a reputable and very well-established main contractor, based in Southeast London, who have entered the market for an experienced Estimator to join their pre-construction team.
As a main contractor, they provide new build, refurbishment, and fit-out services to the local authority and residential sectors with values from £200K - £30m.
Responsibilities of the Estimator:
1. Attend project meetings with the Surveying and Commercial Teams.
2. Check quotations and obtain alternative quotes and/or negotiate costs with Sub-contractors via the Commercial Team.
3. Breakdown specification and pricing documents into Sub-contract packages.
4. Continuously develop new business opportunities and client relationships.
5. Produce accurate estimates that are detailed and inputted into the estimating system currently in use.
6. Work as part of a team whilst at the same time work unsupervised, prioritising workload through effective communication with all team members.
7. Ensure that all enquiries dispatched to the supply chain are fully comprehensive in respect of technical and contractual information.
8. Technically and commercially appraise all quotations on receipt.
9. Work closely with the Pre-Construction Department and the respective operations teams at tender stage, handover, and throughout the planning stages of each successful project.
10. Liaise with Clients Representative(s).
11. Identify, analyse and develop responses to any commercial risk.
12. Ensure that the business has a robust and defendable position by adhering to contract specific requirements.
13. Understand the implications of Health, Safety and Environmental Management.
14. Assist in the preparation of cost and measurement exercises as and when required.
The Estimator must have/be:
1. Minimum 7 years previous Estimating experience.
2. A team player.
3. Previous experience as an Estimator.
4. Experience working on both new build and refurbishment contracts.
5. Have a practical and logical mind and a methodical way of thinking.
6. Show a creative and innovative approach to problem solving.
7. Ability to write clear and precise reports and relay complex information in a simple and direct way to a diverse range of people.
8. Have a detailed knowledge of past and current building technology, processes, materials, business, and legal matters.
9. Participate in continuous self-development.
10. Have a working knowledge of construction methods.
