Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Specialist Notetaker to provide vital support to students who require note-taking assistance.
The primary requirement of this support is to make a comprehensive set of notes to meet the needs of the student for access, review and revision purposes. The note-taker will make a comprehensive, although non-verbatim, typed record of the content of lectures, seminars, discussions, off-campus events etc.
The notes can be shared in real-time with the student so they can see them being taken as the lecture happens, or they can be provided as a set of notes after the lecture. The support worker will need to discuss with the student any requirements in terms of the format, font or size of the notes.
Main Responsibilities:
* To produce an accurate, typed record of lectures, seminars and discussions in the student's preferred format
* Notes should contain pertinent information from the session (and any questions and discussions if required) and may need to include diagrams or be referenced to any lecture handouts
* To be familiar with the university buildings and rooms
* To act in the best interests of students at all times whilst also working within the policies and procedures of the university
* To ensure student confidentiality, professionalism and respect at all times
* To act as an anonymous notetaking if this is preferred by the student, and to continually maintain this anonymity
* To maintain professional boundaries within the role at all times
Requirements:
* A degree or equivalent qualification or currently studying towards a degree
* Completion of accredited training in "Specialist Notetaking for Deaf or Visually Impaired Students"
* Ability to complete e-learning suite
* Fast and accurate typing skills
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail
* Familiarity with Microsoft Office software and ability to use other technology as required

* Experience of supporting disabled adults an advantage
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
