Senior Research Associate, Bioinformatics
OrthoBio Therapeutics focuses on the use of cutting-edge gene editing technology to treat musculoskeletal disease in humans and animals. The Position
OrthoBio Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Research Associate in Bioinformatics to be responsible for oversight of the company’s bioinformatics pipelines, projects and analyses. The key responsibility for this role will be to develop, optimise and maintain analytical workflows relating to our gene editing activities in vitro and in vivo.
Your Primary Responsibilities
* Maintain and improve our current CRISPR design pipeline incorporating machine learning, regression trees and other models.
* Create, implement and use biocomputational tools to interpret CRISPR editing outcomes.
* Process and analyse bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing data with the objective of characterising and defining new gene-editing targets and solutions.
* Keep up to date with novel biocomputational methods particularly those related to the programming of CRISPR tools and their performance in vitro and in vivo.
* Perform, interpret and present statistical analyses relating to in vitro and in vivo data.
Essential Experience, Knowledge and Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in Natural/Biological Sciences plus PhD (or Master's and equivalent work experience) in bioinformatics/computational science.
* Two years of post-university experience with high-throughput computational analysis of biological data.
* Highly proficient in bioinformatics programming using Python and R.
* Expertise in pipeline scripting and automation using HPC clusters.
* Expertise with Linear Regression Models and Machine Learning.
* Expertise in analysing bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing data.
* Excellent skills in biostatistical analysis and modelling.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* A 'self-starter' mentality with strong motivation and a keen drive to excel individually and in a team.
* Excellent verbal communication, organization, time management and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to think independently, multi-task effectively and fully integrate into a high achieving team environment.
This is a full-time position with a very competitive salary and benefits package that is funded for 24 months in the first instance. Candidates may on occasion be asked to work outside of normal working hours. Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate may be required to undergo a health assessment and a security check.
