The Department of Finance & Procurement wish to appoint an Accountant to deliver business partner support to the professional service departments.
Core duties will include:
* preparing budgets
* forecasts and reporting
* ad-hoc costings and financial approval of staffing requests.
There is also the opportunity to support the strategic development of these departments and to be involved in a range of projects as required.
About you
We are looking for a qualified accountant, with experience of working in a complex organisation, and motivated to provide an excellent service to customers.
This role will suit you if you are looking to gain experience supporting the financial management of a diverse range of departments, guiding them on how to make the best use of resources. You will also support them with new initiatives and projects from a finance point of view.
You will also line manage and work closely with an Accounting Technician and be willing to support their development and prioritisation of work.
About us
The Finance and Procurement Office is responsible for handling the University's income, expenditure, financial performance and procurement processes, ensuring value for money in its financial activities. In addition, the department provides high quality management accounting support as well as compliance with statutory and regulatory bodies.
This role reports to the Head of Management Accounting, as part of a team of eight Accountants, one Assistant Accountant and three Accounting Technicians. We provide financial support to Academic and Professional Services departments, with responsibility for planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting. The department is based in the Virgil Building in the centre of Bath and there will be a requirement to work on the main campus at times, however, hybrid working is one of the many ways we recognise the importance of achieving a positive work life balance. Whilst the exact days you can work remotely will differ between teams and departments, it should provide you with greater flexibility, provided you are in the UK.
