Horizon School - Lowestoft, Suffolk NR32 4TD MPR/UPR SEN1 (£2,539) Full Time Permanent Reference: 6937 Required as soon as possible Horizon School seeks to appoint an English Teacher at our upper school site in Lowestoft to start as soon as possible. Horizon School is a two site Pupil Referral Unit (KS1 - KS4 site and Tier 4 In-patient Youth and Adolescent CAMHS) in North Suffolk. Children come to Horizon School for intervention when they require support in managing their behaviour. This can often be at a point of personal crisis or where their underlying needs haven't yet been identified, which are therefore creating a barrier to them accessing mainstream education. Role You will be allocated a timetable within their expertise and experience, but flexibility is required, and you will at times be expected to deliver other lessons. In addition, depending on the needs of the school timetable, staff may be asked to teach additional subjects such as reading, PSHE, one to one intervention; this is not uncommon in a small Pupil Referral Unit setting and is in part why all staff are paid a SEN point. All teaching staff within the PRU are expected to take on the role of form tutor as outlined within the staff handbook and as reasonable additional duty delegated by the Headteacher.
