Purpose of the role:
Bristol Bears Community Foundation brings Bristol Bears RFC to the heart of communities, using the power of the club and our passionate team to inspire the community of Greater Bristol to unlock their potential and improve their lives. The Community Rugby Officer will plan and deliver high quality rugby/sport sessions within partner schools and community settings.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
1. To develop, plan and deliver high quality sports coaching sessions to young people in education and community settings, that are appropriate to the needs of groups and individuals.
2. To support relationships with partner education and community organisations - ensuring regular and clear communication is maintained.
3. To provide a safe and accessible environment through person-centered delivery.
4. To provide opportunities maximising enjoyment, participation and whole person development.
5. To ensure all equipment required for each coaching session is appropriate, correctly set up, maintained and stored safely when not in use.
Safeguarding and Risk Management:
1. To safeguard the welfare of young people, adults and vulnerable groups at all times.
2. To ensure all activities are correctly monitored with the appropriate risk assessments and health & safety procedures in place.
3. To adhere to all relevant safeguarding policies and procedures using MyConcern. Report any concerns/incidents to the Bears Community Foundation Designated Safeguarding Officer or any Designated Safeguarding Lead within the Ashton Gate group in a timely manner.
4. Ensure the relationship with adults at risk & young people is appropriate and language, behaviour and demeanor is suitable. Bristol Bears Community Foundation will expect you to undertake training to ensure an understanding of best practice in relation to Young People and/or adults at risk (where appropriate).
5. Must satisfy relevant pre-employment checks including two current references relevant to the position and Enhanced DBS checks.

General:
1. Proactively attend any training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
2. Work closely with the marketing and media staff to ensure success stories and case studies are captured and highlighted alongside impact statistics, to effectively promote the work of the charity.
3. To oversee the inputting of data using the online monitoring platform 'Upshot' to enable project reports to be completed and submitted at 6-month intervals, or as and when required either internally or in accordance with the needs of the funder.
4. Represent Bristol Bears Community Foundation, Bristol Bears RFC and our partners professionally at all times.

Key Performance Indicators:
1. Delivery of high quality sports sessions to include but not limited to Rugby.
2. To record, monitor and evaluate sessions to improve the quality of all programmes.
3. To communicate regularly and provide progress updates to the Community Rugby Manager and relevant programme leads.
Person Specification:
1. England Rugby Coaching Award (ERCA) or Level 2 Coaching Award from RFU or equivalent (or willing to work towards).
2. A minimum of 2 years sports coaching/teaching experience in a paid or voluntary capacity, within education or community settings.
3. A sound understanding of rugby and the key principles of team development in sport.
4. Experience in delivering sports coaching sessions within schools and/or community settings.
5. Be able to work at times and locations appropriate to their role to include evenings and weekends.
6. Access to own vehicle and a full and valid UK driver's license.
Based at:
Partner secondary schools and Ashton Gate Stadium.
Working with/key relationships:
Partner schools and BBCF community projects.
