Data Solutions Analyst
Location: Hybrid, Head Office
Salary: £42,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week 09.00 17.00, Monday Friday
The West Brom Building Society have a new opportunity available for a Systems Analyst within our Data Solutions Analyst team reporting into the Data Solutions Analyst Manager. This is a key role within the team, acting as an intermediary between the business, business analysts, and the development team. You will translate business and data requirements into Functional Specifications, Data Catalogues, Data Dictionaries and Test Plans. These documents will be used to troubleshoot incidents, and implement change to applications, and the Data Warehouse.
The successful candidate will require strong analytical skills to deconstruct complex data models and reporting systems. Experience in providing data-based evidence to support organisational decision making is also essential. You will have skills in SQL (ideally Oracle PL/SQL) and MS Excel and have had exposure to data analysis and reporting tools e.g. Business Objects, SPSS.
Key Responsibilities
* Investigate and analyse existing business systems to understand their functionalities and processes.
* Conduct in-depth analysis of data structures and models within existing systems.
* Identify data dependencies, relationships, and constraints.
* Develop and maintain data models representing the structure, flow, and mapping of data within the organisation.
* Create detailed documentation of system functionalities, data models, and SQL queries.
* Maintain up-to-date documentation reflecting any changes to systems or data structures.
* Collaborate with Test Manager and Business SMEs to develop and execute test plans related to data and system functionalities.
* Conduct testing and validation of data to ensure accuracy and integrity.
* Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, collaborating with relevant teams as needed.
* Propose and implement solutions to improve data accuracy, integrity, and efficiency.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* Proven end-to-end software development life cycle experience
* Process analysis, data mapping and data analytical skills using SQL and Excel;
* Creating and documenting Business Use Cases, System Requirement Specifications, User Stories, Test Cases
* Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders and convey business concepts to technical teams.
* Proficiency in both waterfall and agile methodologies.
* Experience in working in cross-functional teams and ensuring clear communication.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communications.
* Must be highly self-motivated, professional attitude and pro-active.
* Takes ownership of responsibilities and drives positive change.
* Team player with experience in delivering to deadlines.
* Ability to work under pressure, efficiently and in a timely manner.
