We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and specialist Senior CT & MRI Radiographer (Band 6) to join our friendly and sociable imaging team at the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) in Brighton. A brand new, purpose-designed, imaging department opened last year in an expansive redevelopment of the Royal Sussex County Hospital site (3Ts Development). This is proving to be a great opportunity for all members of the imaging team who wish to be part of real improvement in patients' experience and imaging outcomes.
The department is supported by a team of Lead Superintendent Radiographers and Superintendent Radiographers, and in return for your commitment to us we will provide ongoing support for your professional development, as well as a friendly, challenging and stimulating work environment.

Main duties of the job
The CT department currently operates 5 scanners - two Canon Aquilion One Prism, one Siemens X.ceed, one Siemens Drive and one Siemens Definition AS. Future expansion of the service into the new Louisa Martindale building and replacement of current scanners will result in additional scanners consisting of one Canon Prime SP and one Siemens X.ceed, culminating in a total of 6 operational CT scanners on this site.
The MRI department currently operates 2 Phillips 1.5 tesla scanners, 1 Phillips 3 tesla scanner and 1 Siemens 1.5 tesla scanner.
As a Senior CT & MRI Radiographer you will rotate through all cross-sectional areas seeing patients from a variety of sources as both Emergencies, Inpatients and Outpatients. This will extend into the use of other systems as new departments open.
The post-holder will participate in the 7-day extended day and out-of-hours (OOH) rotas providing a high standard 24 hour emergency service for the Royal Sussex County Hospital. The post will include an orientation to plain film, theatres, mobiles and RACH to be able to provide these services. This post also has a commitment to some weekend shifts as part of core working hours.
Job responsibilities
* The Radiographer will be expected to work as a core member of the Cross-sectional imaging team in all relevant departments on the Royal Sussex County Hospital (RSCH) site, as well as achieve competence in other areas required as part of the emergency OOH service.
* The radiographer will need to be able to undertake a wide range of clinical duties to provide a high quality imaging service and assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, encouraging and supporting colleagues to also do so.
* To ensure the department delivers an exemplary service and experience to patients and members of the public.
* To ensure departmental adherence to Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)R) 2017, Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR) 2017 and the Trusts policies, protocols and guidelines.
* Actively participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, including the supervision of newly qualified and junior members of staff, assistant practitioners and student Radiographers.
* Support the Superintendent Radiographers to ensure that the day to day running of the CT and MRI departments are smoothly co-ordinated.
* To participate in the extended working day, weekend and night rotas.
Person Specification
Training, HCPC registration and NHS experience
* HCPC registration
* Clinical Radiography experience in an NHS setting
Modality experience
* Evidence of extensive experience in CT
* Evidence of extensive experience in MRI
* Experience in mobiles, theatre, plain film, paeds
Safety
* Awareness of IR(ME)R 2017
