About the role You’ll help us by undertaking a range of corporate property management functions, commercial and residential property valuations and other duties, contributing to the Council’s objectives and the service aims to efficiently manage the Council’s property portfolio. Key areas of responsibility include: Carrying out valuations for statutory and non-statutory purposes including asset valuations, insurance valuations, right to buys, planning viability appraisals and valuations for Homes for Reading as appropriate to the designation of the post. Negotiating terms and managing all aspects and stages for disposal and acquisition of land /buildings for financial or regeneration/development purposes. To manage and complete the acquisition of income generating assets for investment purposes as appropriate to the designation of the post. Undertaking a wide range of Landlord & Tenant work including lettings, reviews, renewals, dilapidations/repairs. Preparing responses to enquiries from Councillors, tenants and members of the public. Preparing reports for Officers and Councillors as appropriate to the designation of the post. A good understanding of current thinking/best practice in relation to Valuation and Estates issues and the ability to analyse and interpret complex written and financial information and make professional recommendations on the best use of property assets. Experience: Knowledge and understanding of large and complex public service organisations Awareness and understanding of local government operations and how Council services interface with key public service partners e.g. police, health Excellent judgement and analysis with the ability to broker solutions to complex problems.
