We are currently seeking a professional to join Global Payment Solutions (GPS) Legal team in the role of Senior Legal Counsel. As the Senior Legal Counsel, you will provide legal support for HSBC's GPS business, supporting cash management, payments, liquidity, and digital channels. You will advise upon and assist in GPS client negotiations ensuring risks are understood by internal business stakeholders and HSBC is delivering a consistent negotiations experience for all clients. In this role, you will:
1. Support the Global Head of Negotiations and Documentation to manage risk across the HSBC GPS business and assist GPS deal teams to understand and manage risks associated with individual negotiations.
2. Lead negotiations for cash and payments legal agreements including Global foundational terms, service agreements, and side letters. Recommend and guide approvals with key stakeholders in line with negotiation guidelines.
3. Advise on future enhancements to negotiation guidelines and other supporting materials.
4. Assist in the recruitment and training of a team within the Global Legal Solutions (GLS) organization to provide additional legal support for active GPS negotiations and other client queries.
5. Be a UK qualified lawyer with extensive PQE.
6. Have experience in advising on general transactional banking negotiations, either as an in-house lawyer or in private practice. Cash management and payment experience preferred.
7. Have experience supporting global projects and initiatives impacting multiple jurisdictions.
8. Possess the ability to manage and prioritize different workloads in different businesses.
9. Be able to think independently and act on one's own counsel as well as manage business expectations.
10. Possess the gravitas and maturity to gain the confidence of senior management right from the outset.
