Overview: We are now looking for an eager candidate to join us as an apprentice The office where we are looking to recruit an IT Desktop Support Apprentice for is situated on a vibrant business park in the heart of Didsbury, Greater Manchester. We are an exciting company to work for. We have a great social committee constantly organising events and social activities. This is also a great opportunity for an Apprentice to learn new and innovative Cloud Infrastructure Skills and Cybersecurity Technology from a friendly and approachable team that are keen to support you - including our former IT Apprentice who will take an active role in helping you succeed in your Apprenticeship by offering Mentoring support. Main responsibilities: [will include but not be limited to:] Desktop Support for over 80 users and escalate and prioritise tasks where appropriate. Monitor and respond to all IT service requests via a ticketing system, telephone, face to face and email. Log all support requests in the ticketing system. regardless of how the support was raised and ensuring all tickets are always 100% up to date. Cloud Server Support for Microsoft Azure and Azure Virtual desktop. Resolve IT issues or changes required such as email issues, viruses, and forgotten passwords. Install and configure computer systems, diagnose hardware and software faults, and solve technical and applications problems. Provide Microsoft Office 365 security and other IT security elements. Provide systems support for the company VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) system (Moodle/Linux) as a backup to the System Support officer. Complete onboarding and offboarding processes of new starters/leavers. Including creation of accounts, licensing, permissions, building laptops building profiles, and providing security training. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties as the role may change to meet the overall objectives of the department. Beneficial skills and experience: Experience in a Helpdesk Support Environment Be competent in using Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, Microsoft 365 Azure services and Microsoft 365 Defender security suite of products Be familiar with Cyber security practices and Cyber security incident response Desirable skills and experience: Understanding of Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Entra ID [desirable] Understanding of Microsoft Defender Security Suite [desirable] Understanding of Microsoft Copilot and other AI technologies [desirable] Understanding of Web Technologies & Web monitoring tools [desirable] Personal qualities: Proactive, can-do approach Entry requirements: 3 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grades 4 (A-C) in any subject GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3 (D or above) Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme. If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.
