Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) Counsellor: Birmingham, West Midlands
Hours: Part-time roles (from 3hrs 30mins a week upwards) consisting of varied days, times and locations available (City Centre, locations across Birmingham and working from home offering telephone and online counselling).
Location: This will be an outreach-based role which requires frequent travel across Birmingham to support children and young people in spaces where they are already accessing support and feel safe. A small number of hours will be working from our Birmingham City Centre premises.
You will provide support as a Child Sexual Exploitation Counsellor for children and young people (CYP) and those supporting them. You will offer compassionate, confidential support to CYP of all genders, who currently are or have been subjected to sexual exploitation, sexual violence, and abuse. You will also lead on developing and delivering a group for supporters (parents and carers) who are supporting children and young people subjected to sexual exploitation. You will work closely with our team of Independent Sexual Violence Advocates (ISVAs) who provide advocacy support for CYP who have been sexually exploited.
Purpose of the post:
* To offer a specialist, boundaried relational and trauma-informed child sexual exploitation (CSE) counselling that is responsive to children and young people aged 5 to 17 years of age who have been subjected to or at risk of sexual exploitation.
* To offer specialist counselling and wellbeing support to parents, carers, and families who are supporting children and young people subjected to sexual exploitation.
* To develop and deliver a group for supporters (parents, carers, and families) who are supporting children and young people subjected to sexual exploitation.
* To offer an environment where children and young people feel safe and secure.
* To work actively with children and young people subjected to sexual exploitation.
* To offer counselling/therapy tailored to the individual needs and abilities of each young person.
* To be aware of any safeguarding issues at all times and deal with them in a timely and professional manner.
