As the Control Systems Engineer you'll perform all the control and software design and writing aspects involved in delivering marine gas handling systems, supporting the wider control, instrumentation, and electrical department. Support winning and delivering large scale process-engineering themed projects for our key customers, ensuring that the business maintains its position as the world leader in the delivery of marine cargo handling and fuel gas systems for the transportation/storage of liquefied gas. End customers include major worldwide shipyards and ship owners. Day to day, responsibilites:
* Designing, Planning, Preparing and Writing PLC and HMI software for control systems with I/O in the region of 500-1500 I/O points. I/O Lists, Datamaps, External Communication Maps, Structured text, Ladder logic, Function Block, Simulation as required and coordinating with other business departments to achieve the required project objectives and deliverable schedules.
* Contribute to Product and Process Safety control aspects of workshops (HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, SIL and LoPA)
* Actively support the company's Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and other policies and procedures
* Potential for role development where appropriate into increased Warranty and Aftersales support where vessel visits would be required to troubleshoot control/software fault
This role is full time, Monday to Friday and is based in Rosyth with hybrid working arrangements - 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Control Systems Engineer:
* Proven control system software design experience in project or design engineering; preferably with process industry control experience but would consider from other industries such as water, wastewater, power, pharmaceutical and drinks or food industries
* Signinficnt PLC & HMI programming proficiency with Siemens, Allen Bradley, and/or Emerson PAC8000 (or equivalent)
* Design engineering expertise in I/O system layout for E&I control panels
* Ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing customer requirements
* Knowledge of remote monitoring systems and related protocol development
* Experience in witnessing and managing the FAT and/or site commissioning of control system software
Qualifications for the Control Systems Engineer:
* Degree qualified in Control/Software/Electrical Engineering or related discipline
* Significant track of relevant experience
* Strong competency to be demonstrated in development of HMI and PLC software, preferably with experience using PAC Machine edition.
