The Opportunity
The Portfolio Analyst plays a key role in shaping and managing a well-structured, high-performing Enterprise IT Portfolio. You’ll be at the heart of ensuring projects are aligned, governance is effective, and best practices drive quality and efficiency in delivery.
Our Portfolio Analyst position blends analysis, advisory, and hands-on execution, giving you the opportunity to provide strategic insights while overseeing essential financial and planning activities. You'll also be responsible for reporting key portfolio metrics and delivering critical data-driven insights that support decision-making across the portfolio.

What you’ll be doing
Here’s a snapshot of what you can expect to be doing as a Portfolio Analyst at EDF:
* Financial Processing & Tracking – support the team and our delivery leads with the processing and tracking of their different cost elements.
* Providing Independent Project Assurance – Offer impartial advice, challenge assumptions, and ensure robust scrutiny across the Enterprise IT Portfolio to maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
* Identifying and Reporting Risks – Play a key role in the independent review of risks across strategic programmes, ensuring timely reporting and mitigation strategies.
* Delivering Reliable Executive-Level Reporting – Validate and consolidate key management information, producing insightful dashboards and status updates that support critical decision-making.
* Driving Benefits Realisation – Facilitate the definition, ownership, and tracking of programme benefits, ensuring measurable impact from concept through post-delivery assessment.
* Supporting Demand & Resource Management – Assist in demand management for EIT and support manpower planning, helping to optimise resource allocation across the portfolio.
* Implementing Best Practices – Research, develop, and drive the adoption of best-in-class portfolio management approaches, including refining skills, processes, tools, and standards.
* Providing Strategic Advisory & Project Support – Offer guidance on key programme mobilisations, risk reviews, peer reviews, and EDF’s intake management process, ensuring successful project initiation and execution.
* Enhancing Stakeholder Engagement & Communications – Ensure clear and timely communications across programmes, including close collaboration with the Finance team to maintain accurate Totex reporting.
* Supporting Portfolio & PMO Operations – Contribute to the smooth delivery of the wider portfolio function, including PMO as a Service and key governance forums.
* Providing Hands-On Project Support – Work closely with Programme Managers within the EIT portfolio, ensuring they have the insights, structure, and support needed for successful project execution.
* Assuring Work Package Delivery – Contribute to Work Package support assurance, helping to drive consistency, efficiency, and high standards in project delivery.
Who you are
Strong communication is essential—you’ll need to confidently present updates, facilitate discussions, and engage with stakeholders across multiple functions. Your ability to explain and apply portfolio processes and governance, including RAID and dependency management, will be key to ensuring smooth project delivery.
Analytical skills and attention to detail are a must. You’ll be working with data-driven insights, financial processes, and project cost management, so being comfortable with figures and producing high-quality written materials is crucial. Experience with Portfolio Management and PMO methodologies will also help you navigate complex programmes with confidence.
This role requires adaptability and a business-focused mindset. You’ll be working in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift, ambiguity arises, and conflict needs to be managed effectively. Strong organisational skills will help you juggle multiple tasks, facilitate portfolio meetings, and ensure reporting is clear and actionable.
A true team player, you’ll be proactive in supporting colleagues and connecting information from different forums to drive action. With a continuous improvement mindset, you’ll seek out better ways of working, leveraging tools and lean practices to enhance efficiency and portfolio performance.
