This role is essential to maintaining and optimizing our pharmacy’s IT systems, ensuring smooth and secure operations.
Job Summary:
The Pharmacy IT Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining all IT systems and software within the pharmacy, including prescription management systems, patient databases, and inventory management systems. The role requires a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of pharmacy operations. The IT Administrator will work closely with the pharmacy team to ensure that all systems are functioning optimally, secure, and in compliance with relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
System Maintenance: Regularly maintain and update pharmacy IT systems, including prescription software, electronic health records (EHR), and inventory management systems, ensuring they are up-to-date and running efficiently.
Technical Support: Provide technical support to pharmacy staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Data Security: Implement and manage data security protocols to protect sensitive patient and business information, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations.
Software Integration: Assist in the integration of new software and technologies into the pharmacy’s existing systems, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal downtime.
Training: Provide training and support to pharmacy staff on the use of IT systems, ensuring they are proficient and confident in using the necessary tools.
Network Management: Oversee the pharmacy's network infrastructure, ensuring stable and secure connectivity for all devices and systems.
Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup procedures to ensure data integrity and availability in the event of system failures or other issues.
Compliance: Ensure all IT operations comply with legal and regulatory standards, particularly in relation to the handling of patient data and electronic prescriptions.
Vendor Management: Liaise with IT vendors and service providers to ensure the pharmacy’s IT needs are met and issues are resolved promptly.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Experience:
Previous experience as an IT Administrator, preferably in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
Experience with pharmacy software systems (e.g., EMIS, IT Integration, Titan and POS, Data Integration, Sage) is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
In-depth knowledge of data security protocols and best practices.
Proficiency in network management and IT infrastructure.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
