Align Property Services is wholly owned by North Yorkshire Council and is one of the largest multi-disciplinary organisations in the North of England. We provide a huge range of “one stop shop” design, consultancy and engineering solutions to a wide range of clients right across the public and private sector.
As the Technical Director, you will lead a skilled and dedicated multi-disciplinary team of staff. Reporting into the Managing Director and operating at Board level, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the technical delivery of schemes as well as managing the teams and their workload overall.
We embrace a hybrid working model, allowing you to flexibly split your week between our office location and working from home. It is anticipated that you will work from our Cumbria offices (Kendal and Cockermouth) 3 days per week, with the remaining 2 days working from home. Regular attendance at our Northallerton office once a fortnight is required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and develop a multi-disciplined team of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors to contribute to our continued success
* Build on our competitive position by engaging with new and existing clients to secure business and inspire future partnerships by using established networks and client relationships
* Work with our clients to understand their requirements and translate these into innovative design solutions
* Autonomously manage teams, projects and resources to meet objectives and manage fluctuating workloads
* Be responsible for the completion of specifically assigned tasks to programme and budget
* Prepare specifications, tender and contract documents and support the construction process
* Ensure compliance with business management standards set in the company's quality, safety and environmental policies and procedures
* Prepare and present progress and technical reports for discussion at client and key stakeholder meetings
* Actively progress business development opportunities and maintain good existing client relationships
Essential Skills:
To excel in this role, you should be able to demonstrate the following essential skills and qualifications:
* Construction design professional (ARB/RIBA/CEng/RICS)
* Fully competent in the conceptual and detailed design of new build projects, renovations of existing structures and extensive survey schemes with all forms of structural materials
* A sound knowledge and experience of dealing with statutory section agreements
* Significant experience in managing project delivery and managing people providing leadership within an engineering consultancy
* Skilled in leading and coordinating detailed designs and specifications using AutoCAD, Revit, Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer or similar software packages
* IT Literacy with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
* Proficient at resource and financial management with the ability to work with clients to produce required scopes of works and fee proposals
