As a Crime Solicitor, you will handle a diverse caseload, including representing clients in court, providing expert legal advice, and working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for their clients. Key Responsibilities: Case Management: Manage a diverse caseload of criminal matters, including but not limited to, theft, assault, drug offences, and white-collar crimes. Client Representation: Represent clients in court, including magistrates' and crown courts, ensuring their interests are effectively presented and protected. Legal Advice: Provide expert legal advice to clients on a range of criminal law issues, ensuring they understand their rights and options. Documentation: Prepare and review legal documents, including witness statements, case summaries, and evidence bundles. Court Appearances: Attend and advocate in court hearings, bail applications, trials, and sentencing hearings. Client Liaison: Maintain regular contact with clients, keeping them informed of case progress and developments. Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations into cases, gathering evidence and liaising with law enforcement agencies, witnesses, and other relevant parties. Plea Bargaining: Negotiate with prosecutors on behalf of clients to secure favourable plea agreements when appropriate. Compliance: Ensure all legal activities are conducted in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards. Professional Development: Stay updated with changes in criminal law and attend relevant training and seminars to maintain and enhance professional competence. Qualifications and Experience: Educational Background: Qualified Solicitor with a valid practising certificate. Experience: Proven experience in criminal law, with a strong track record of managing a varied caseload. Advocacy Skills: Excellent advocacy and negotiation skills, with experience representing clients in court. Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and other stakeholders.
